Describing Archives: A Content Standard
DACS is the most current iteration of an archival content standard, defining what sorts of elements belong in a proper description of a collection and how best those elements should be expressed. You may not choose to memorize DACS cover to cover, at least right now, but you will need to be familiar with its basic shape and, more importantly, the reasons behind it.
Assignment in class: We will attempt to apply DACS to a finding aid.
DACS in PowerPoint form: two mind numbing exercises rolled into one.
